In keeping with the wintry weather and date, friends, advocates and family of Personal Advocacy Service have this year rugged up in winter woollies for the Annual Community Celebration.
Frosty the Snowman made an appearance and featured in the group photos.
The PAS groups had fun posing with our “marshmallows on sticks”, toasting them over a campfire – which were battery fueled.
Many groups created unique table centerpieces and decorations to celebrate the theme.
This year PAS celebrates 35 years of service to people with intellectual disability, so each person was provided with their own individual birthday cupcake labelled with the PAS logo.
Friends and family danced to music provided by DJ Adam Penn.
The PAS community expressed their thanks to Aquinas College for hosting the occasion and serving the guests with afternoon tea.
PAS is an outreach of the Catholic Church providing friendships and support for people with intellectual disabilities. The service is currently open to adults, irrespective of their faith background.
The program operates through a network of groups in which parish community volunteers (advocates) and their Friends with disabilities receive ongoing support and encouragement from group leaders and fellow advocates.
For more information about volunteering or if you are interested in joining the program as a Friend with intellectual disability, please visit www.paswa.org.au or contact the office on 08 9275 5388.
