And now we introduce to you, Plenary Council Member, Eva Skira AM.
Born in Tasmania, married in Canberra and with three adult children, Eva Skira is a senior professional and non-executive director in Australia, based in Perth.
Eva is Chair of the Association of Ministerial Public Juridical Persons (AMPJP), which is the national peak body of 11 Catholic canonical entities, which sponsor major Catholic ministries in Australia, including schools, hospitals, aged care facilities, community and social services. These Catholic ministries employ some 80,000 people.
Eva is in her eighth year as Chair of the Trustees of St John of God Healthcare, which is the largest not for profit private hospitals provider in Australia. The SJGHC Ministry in total includes 16 public and private hospitals, disability services, mental health, homelessness and other community services.
Eva has held a portfolio of directorships for more than two decades. Eva is currently Chair of the ASX listed, mining services contractor, Macmahon Ltd, and a director of Western Power, the WA Cricket Association (WACA) and the WA Parks Foundation.
In the past, Eva’s directorships included Chair of the Water Corporation of Western Australia, WA Forest Products Commission, and Westsuper Superannuation Fund; Deputy Chancellor of Murdoch University, and a director of MDA National Insurance, Doric Construction and ASX listed AOS Ltd.
Eva has also been a director of a number of not for profit entities in a pro bono capacity, including schools, community service agencies and professional bodies. Eva was WA Chair of the Securities Institute of Australia and later joined its national Board and chaired the Academic Committee.
Eva’s background is in banking and stockbroking, working in Sydney and short stints overseas. She has an MBA from IMD in Switzerland (Distinction and Dux), and a first Class Honours degree from the University of New South Wales. She is a Life Member of both the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and of the Australian Institute of Management (WA), and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors as well as the Governance Institute of Australia.
In 2019, Eva was awarded an Order of Australia in the Australia Day Honours, and is the 2017 Gold Medal Award winner for the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
