The Christopher Dawson Society for Philosophy and Culture has recently published a book titled 1968: Culture and Counterculture – A Catholic Critique.
The book will be launched by the University of Notre Dame Australia (UNDA) Vice Chancellor Professor Francis Campbell, followed by a response from the editor, on Tuesday 9 February from 6pm to 7pm in the Michael Keating Room of the Fremantle Campus, located on the corner of Cliff St and High St.
Published by Wipf & Stock, 1968: Culture and Counterculture – A Catholic Critique is a collection of papers presented at The Dawson Society’s “1968: Five Decades On” conference held in July 2018.
The conference examined how the priorities and concerns popularly expressed in the 1960s continue to shape the assumptions that underpin contemporary culture.
The book includes chapters from such eminent thinkers as Papal Household theologian Fr Wojciech Giertych OP, 2020 Ratzinger Prize winner Prof Tracey Rowland, University of Western Australia Professor of European Languages and Studies John Kinder FAHA, and St John Vianney Seminary Wagga Wagga Dean of Studies Dr Matthew Tan, as well as local voices such as Dr Marco Ceccarelli, Prof Matthew Ogilvie, Dr Philippa Martyr, and Tom Gourlay (who co-edited the book and also contributed a paper).
The Dawson Society, in conjunction with UNDA, will launch its new book, which was edited by Thomas Gourlay and Daniel Matthys, in Perth on 9 February.
Books will be available to purchase on the night for the discounted rate of $35 (rrp $42). Register your attendance for this free event in advance and get a further 10 per cent discount.
