Rev Dr Richard Leonard SJ, film critic for the Australian Catholic Bishops’ Conference, has compiled a list suggesting some of the finest movies from the past four years to get sunk into.

While Australia is not officially in a full COVID-19 “home lockdown”, many people find themselves with more time on their hands, unable to carry out their regular hobbies what with the vast array of temporary recreational closures.

View below some of the best films in recent years – most of which should be found on various streaming services.

Please check out the film first for its rating for language, violence and content and search for our Office’s review of that title at https://www.catholic.org.au/film-reviews so that you make the best decisions for you and your family.

N.B. While there is a good range of genres here, there are those titles that some people would find offensive or difficult to watch.

Jesuit priest Fr Richard Leonard is the director of the Australian Catholic Office for Film & Broadcasting.
