More than 100 Religious sisters, brothers and priests convened at the Sisters of St Joseph Convent in South Perth on 17 November to give thanks and pray for all Religious who have died in Western Australia this year.

Last Saturday was the first WA social gathering since Catholic Religious Western Australia (CRWA) became part of Catholic Religious Australia (CRA).

In 2018, individual state groups of Religious merged to become part of CRA.

This group plans and organises activities for Religious throughout Australia in areas such as: emerging futures, health and wellbeing, education, social justice, and who to choose to be part of the larger body.

Sr Lucy van Kessel PVBM, of the Presentation Sisters, said the annual get-together was an opportunity for WA Religious to pray for the souls of those who have departed.

“Prayer included reflective sharing on being on the ‘brink of everything’ – namely our aging and journeying courageously at this stage of our lives, and remembering those who have gone before us.

“Candles were lit in remembrance of each person named,” Sr Lucy added.
