The University of Notre Dame Australia Fremantle Campus’ famous walking tours of the historic West End are back.

Commencing on Sunday 28 May and Sunday 4 June from 12 noon, attendees can enjoy a unique backstage walk through some of the finest historic buildings in Fremantle.

While the festival celebrates others who have created history and made a lasting contribution to what Fremantle is today, a focal point again for the festival is the entire West End that has been included in the State Register of Heritage Places.

The University has been a part of the City of Fremantle’s Heritage Festival for close to 10 years and Discipline Coordinator of History, Professor Deborah Gare, said that the University is one of the busiest teaching and research teams in West Australian history.

“Given that our campus is in Fremantle’s historic West End, it is important that we celebrate the vibrancy of our community’s history while sharing the knowledge of our amazing staff,” she added.

“Our festival program is also an opportunity to explore the interesting buildings and hear the stories of families who used to work and live in Fremantle’s West End.

Our Campus Tour takes guests through some of our much loved buildings, such as the Drill Hall, Court House and Bateman’s Courtyard.”

Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to share in the stories of those who have lived in and loved the city over the past century, and enjoy access to some of Fremantle’s best-kept secret locations.
