Yet another heart pumping Ignite Live event kicked off 2017 with a bang with some 130 teenagers and young adults at Servite College for their first event this year.

Held on Friday 17 February, this was the first of six Ignite Live nights to be held at various venues around Perth this year

The overall theme of the night was, “Come Away with Me”, with teenagers and young adults in attendance given the opportunity to experience the power of living a dynamic faith, but also to gather for some fun and laughter.

In addition to the main event, the night included music from the Ignite Youth band and DJ, outdoor games, and entertaining segments from the event MC’s Giorgia Vecchio and Christian Dichiera.

The main speaker of the night Richie Perera, presented a powerful message about the importance of making space for God in our lives.

Following Richie’s presentation, participants had the opportunity to respond through a variety of prayer experiences, including the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

The Ignite Live team is made up of representatives of various parishes, schools and groups from across the Archdiocese.

Ryan Shelton, Religious Education Coordinator at Holy Cross College in Ellenbrook, is one of the members of the Ignite Youth organising team.

“As with all Ignite Live events, it was great seeing people from all over the community coming together for a night of encountering God.

“The night was filled with fun, contemporary, and relevant experiences for all young people to meet Christ where there are at,” he said.

Mr Shelton also said that Servite College was an ideal venue for the first Ignite Live event of the year.

“Servite College always produce a great venue for Ignite Live and it was great having some of the Servite priests hearing confessions on their feast day,” he said.

Year 10 student Sophia said, “This was my favourite Ignite Live so far because the MC’s were absolutely hilarious and everyone was really involved and able to participate.”

The Ignite Live nights continue to offer a modern and contemporary setting for groups and individuals to gather, providing a unique environment for youth evangelisation in the Archdiocese of Perth.
