St John of God Mount Lawley Hospital has appointed Vanessa Unwin as Director of Nursing and Midwifery and Dr Stuart Prosser as Director of Medical Services.

SJOG Mt Lawley Hospital CEO, Chris Hanna, said both Vanessa and Stuart bring significant experience to the hospital and will greatly assist its plans to build the specialised care it provides to the community, especially in maternity, rehabilitation and surgical medical services.

“Vanessa has held senior roles at St John of God Health Care for many years and comes with a strong understanding of our values and service ethos,” Ms Hanna said.

“With her extensive experience within the public and private hospital sectors in both Western Australia and Queensland, along with a passion for providing patient-centred care, Vanessa is well positioned to lead our nursing and midwifery teams.”

Previously, Mrs Unwin has held senior positions in safety and risk at SJOG Subiaco and Murdoch Hospitals, as well as Fiona Stanley Hospital.

Ms Hanna said Stuart’s experience as both a clinician and general practitioner will greatly assist plans to enhance and grow medical services over the next few years.

With a background in obstetrics and anaesthetics, Dr Prosser has worked in both rural and metropolitan hospitals in Western Australia.

He also works as a general practitioner and his areas of interest include obstetrics, anaesthetics, paediatrics, skin cancer medicine and aged care.

St John of God Health Care recently celebrated its second anniversary of acquiring the former Mercy Hospital.

In the past two years, the hospital has undergone a $17-million redevelopment and there are more plans ahead for the 205-bed boutique hospital.
