After working 24 years as a missionary in Kenya, Sister Eugenia Bonetti returned to Italy, where she found young Nigerian women forced to work as prostitutes to repay those who smuggled them into the country. The Consolata Missionary now oversees 250 religious throughout Italy who work to rescue these modern-day slaves and give them shelter. She was among nearly a dozen speakers at a Miami conference on human trafficking. (CNS photo by Ana Rodriguez-Soto, Florida Catholic) (Nov. 30, 2004) See TRAFFICKING-VICTIMS Nov. 30, 2004.
