Perth Archbishop Timothy Costelloe has last week on Good Friday, 15 April, invited the congregation to remember the image of Mary at the foot of the cross.
“Which invites us to remember, and to pray for, all those mothers who are grieving the loss of their sons and daughters, of their husbands, and of their brothers and sisters, in the dreadful conflict which is engulfing Ukraine,” Archbishop Costelloe said.
The Passion of Christ was celebrated by Christians throughout the world this year on Friday, 2 April. The day which commemorates Jesus’ journey to Calvary and His death on the cross, began with the Stations of Cross, followed by a 3pm service. The Archdiocese of Perth were allowed physical celebrations this year with restrictions on the number of people allowed, despite the pandemic still affecting the country. By Amanda Murthy.
