The Perth Catholic community are this year being encouraged to participate in the celebrations of Easter from the safety of their own homes, following the Government ordered restrictions due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Palm Sunday, marking the start of Holy Week, will be the first service streamed live this Sunday at 11am, celebrated by Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB.
Director of the Office of the Archbishop, Daniel Lynch, said this opportunity is a culmination to the collaborative work of the Archdiocesan IT, Communications, Media and Marketing teams.
“In what is a very interesting moment for the Church in Perth and the world, the Archdiocese is doing its best in making use of modern technology to effectively communicate,” Mr Lynch said.
“The situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has been a unique opportunity for the Church to show that none of us are forgotten, so I encourage you to join your Archbishop for all our Easter services, together with the members of your household,” he said.
Mass for Holy Thursday, celebrated by Archbishop Timothy Costelloe, will be streamed from 7pm, Thursday 9 April and Good Friday service will be streamed at 3pm, Friday 10 April.
The Easter Vigil Mass will be streamed on Saturday 11 April from 6.00pm, and the Easter Sunday Mass at 11am. Both services will be celebrated by Archbishop Timothy Costelloe.
The Masses will be streamed to the Archdiocesan website, Facebook and YouTube.
