Pilgrims pray at a statue of Mary in 2011 on Apparition Hill in Medjugorje, Bosnia-Herzegovina. The site is where six village children first claimed to see Mary in June 1981. The Vatican ambassador to the United States reminded bishops of a doctrinal congregation ruling that it was not yet possible “to state that there were apparitions or supernatural revelations” by visionaries in Medjugorje.
